Quick answer
What is the best Discord alternative for anime communities?
Taverns: it keeps the Discord-style layout fandoms already know and makes the fun stuff free, from 700 custom emoji and 1,000 stickers per tavern to watch parties and 2 GB fan art uploads.
An anime server lives on reaction images, fan art and watch-club nights. On Discord, a free server starts with 100 emoji and 5 sticker slots and free uploads stop at 20 MB. On Taverns, every tavern gets 700 emoji and 1,000 stickers, files up to 2 GB, a theme in your show’s colors and Stage halls that play clips for everyone at the same second. If your fandom is happy on Discord, stay; if you keep running out of emoji slots, come over.
- 700 custom emoji + 1,000 stickers per tavern (Discord: 100 + 5 before boosts)
- Files up to 2 GB for full-res art and cosplay sets (Discord free: 20 MB)
- Stage watch parties for openings, trailers, AMVs and clips
- Tavern themes: background, colors, fonts and hall icons
- Free on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and the web
Every reaction image gets a slot.

Questions, answered.
Is Taverns good for anime communities?
Yes. Taverns keeps Discord-style halls, roles, forums and events, and adds what fandoms use most for free: 700 custom emoji and 1,000 stickers per tavern, GIF search, files up to 2 GB, tavern themes and Stage watch parties.
Can we watch anime together on Taverns?
Stage halls play YouTube, TikTok, X, Vimeo and Twitch clip links and video files for everyone at the same second, so openings, trailers, AMVs and creators’ videos are perfect. Taverns does not stream episodes from paid anime services: everyone watches those on their own account and talks in the tavern.
How many custom emoji can an anime community have on Taverns?
Every tavern has room for 700 custom emoji and 1,000 stickers, free, and members can use them in every tavern they join. A free Discord server starts with 100 emoji and 5 sticker slots and needs paid boosts for more (checked October 6, 2026).
Can I make my anime tavern look like my favorite show?
Yes. Owners can set a background image, color or gradient, colors for text, halls and buttons, custom fonts and an icon for every hall, and members can add name effects and avatar decorations to their profiles. Bring your own art: Taverns does not supply licensed characters.
Can I move my anime Discord server to Taverns?
Yes. The free Discord migration tool copies your server’s channels, categories, roles, permissions, emoji and supported stickers into a new tavern after you confirm a preview. Members and messages stay on Discord, and your Discord server is not changed.
Keep exploring.
